Case Study: Sling aircraft

Sling aircraft manufacture light aircraft. They are based in Cambridgeshire and produce and sell these fantastic planes globally.

Sling aircraft needed professional photography of their different models of light aircraft because although they had imagery of their products, these were all depicting South African landscapes.

In order to appeal to the UK market place, they needed photography that embraced the UK countryside.

Setting off in a Piper plane from Biggin Hill, we landed at the Sling aircraft HQ in Cambridgeshire.

We had a safety briefing which was expertly carried out, as there were some complicated logistical points to bear in mind when photographing two planes simultaneously.

It is important to note, that flying any type of aircraft uses a huge amount of fuel which can be very costly.

We discussed the logistics which involved the following:-

Going up in a key plane, where I would be stationed next to the pilot, who was also in charge of the safety elements. He had done this type of thing before, and was very experienced and adept on the logistics side.

Once we were in the air, the two planes would fly side by side, I would then instruct Mike to inform the pilots if I needed them to move up, down, to the left or right.

We got some great shots, and the team at Sling were elated with the results.
