Headshots and Business Photography for Chilliapple in Tunbridge Wells
When someone visits your website, can they get a sense of the people they’ll be working with?
Your services explain what you do, but your photographs help introduce the business behind them. For prospective clients, seeing the team can make that first enquiry feel a little more familiar.
That was the focus of my photography brief for Chilliapple, working with Managing Director Sophie Spencer-Stephens at their offices in Tunbridge Wells.
The brief brought together individual headshots, group photographs and natural working images to refresh the company’s website and support its marketing..
A photography brief that goes beyond headshots
For Chilliapple, the starting point was a nine-person team and a website that needed updated imagery.
Individual portraits were an important part of the brief, alongside photographs showing the team together and people working in the office. Each type of image serves a different purpose, helping visitors understand who they’re dealing with and giving the business more choice when communicating online.
Planning those elements together helps create a consistent collection, with photographs that work alongside one another across different pages..
Introducing the individuals
A professional headshot gives a name a face. It can introduce someone on a team page, accompany a LinkedIn profile or support a company announcement.
When photographing a team, I aim for consistency while allowing each person’s personality to come through. The photographs should feel connected, while still representing the individuals within them.
This is particularly useful when several portraits appear together on a website: the page feels considered, and everyone receives the same attention.
Showing the team and the working environment
Team photographs add another part of the story, showing the people who make up the business.
Working images provide further context. Alongside portraits, they can help illustrate the day-to-day environment and give a website a more personal feel.
Including these different perspectives in the Chilliapple brief meant thinking about both the people and the setting, rather than treating the session as a series of individual portraits alone.
Making business photography useful
Before a business shoot, I always want to understand how the photographs will be used.
A website refresh is a good opportunity to consider the wider picture. Which pages need images? Where would a team photograph help? What might the business want to share over the coming months?
Those questions help shape a purposeful brief and make the most of the time set aside for photography.
For Chilliapple, the combination of headshots, team photographs and office imagery provided that broader focus: introducing the individuals while showing the business as a whole.
